Back Flipping Forward (Remaster)

by Will Dailey

/
  • Record/Vinyl + Digital Album

For the first time ever! Commemorative 15th anniversary vinyl pressing. Limited run, Remastered, colored vinyl!!!

"...a masterpiece of 10 mini gems, which span every influence and nuance of the greatest songwriters of all time. Dailey seems shameless in bucking the notion of what is hip and acceptable and simply writes songs that can make you smile and songs that can make your heart break.... Dailey reminds us that the world is a bigger place and his music is certainly hitting a higher mark than most of his contemporaries. Repeated listenings make this album a personal favorite of mine."
    Joel Simches, The Noise

"Dailey’s ability to take a melancholy subject matter and ably apply it to an upbeat tune is part of the genius he displays on his latest offering. Dailey’s songs range from a decidedly pop sound to a darker quality, which is anything but predictable. Dailey seems able to adapt to any sound... -Stacia Waraska, Northeast Performer Magazine

"Heartfelt emotions wrapped around modern rock with pop hooks that nearly lift you out of your seat, Back Flipping Forward is quickly becoming my favorite pop album of 2006."
    J-Sin, Smother.net

"The uniting factor seems to be the strength of Dailey's songwriting. His songs are every bit as catchy as they are complex, as if he writes music with both ears: one tuned to traditional pop simplicity and the other trying to push the limits of musical composition. "
    Jason Holloway, Dissolver Magazine

" His roots in folk, jazz, and blues are present throughout making it an entirely entertaining listen. His ambition on this album has proven that he has what it takes to go from performing local holes-in-the-wall to playing in packed theaters. Songs like the opener 'Boom Boom' and the jazzy 'Hollywood Hills' are sure to have you hooked after only one listen. As you continue to listen and press the repeat button, you will find that all the songs on the album have their own personality and not one is better than the next, nor can any stand out more than another."
    -Tony Gisondi, This Is Mondern

Boom Boom 03:35
I got a broken heart I had to have removed and placed in a jar and every night when I turn out the lights I hear it go boom boom I got a worried mind I should have drugged or lobotomized for all the times when I think to much I hit the ground with a boom boom Star torn hearts lost before it got a chance to start I remember the sound of you like a rush left a taste that lingered for too long I will wait for the magic And now since you've been gone I don't use my lungs I never lose my breath it's the same cold one since the day that you left an echo of boom boom Star torn hearts couldn't keep hold in the start I believe in the sound of us like a rush still looking for the one I've lost I will wait for the magic no matter where you are I whisper to the moon hoping you'll get the call and all the sounds that cry out in the night I hear you in the boom boom

Won’t let it cool me out Won’t let it back me off Cannot tell you why I have got to run Stuck in the headlights On the longest road Don’t try to call me out Or find where I have gone But you wear the butterfly I got the remote control And when you walk on by I will turn you on Take all of your things But do not take your thoughts You think of my hands I’ll think of your touch This is no goodbye just a distance to obey We move just like water Even when we go down in flames

With a crash at the door She fell into my arms Out of the fires burning down the Hollywood hills She wore a torn-up couture Matched the soot on her face I wet my t-shirt to wipe the grey away Oh, the lights are shining on her And the camera loves to roll but me… my lips have an owner and I’d Be so apologetical I’d have to explode In our invisible Inch She comes to with a sigh I wear a benefit that’s hard to hide though she says it’s alright But my heart has its pride The queen of the screen and the beast from the streets who sings Oh, the lights are shining on you And the camera loves to roll But me my lips have an owner and I’d be so apologetical I’d have to explode this town’s burning down & the smoke in your head will eat you up oh, well I guess you know the Hollywood Hills So the lights are shining on ya and the camera loves to roll But me… my lips have an owner and I’d be so apologetical I’d have to explode You might not get it cuz we come from two different worlds I kinda got it good and you’re just a face on a wall

Eliza 04:53
The day woke up to violence I caught my shoelace in the sunset and I tripped throughout the morning By now you know My pistol was never loaded But bullets hit the air and they found another man and he hit the ground. So let me catch my breath And before you start crying Turn off the television and hear me out Hey Eliza, I’ll love you till I’m bones But I can’t stick around here anymore any minute now they’ll come crashing down our door So grab what you need we got to go What’d you think would happen? When the bills are going north The work is going south And we’re running out But freedom’s in my failures, as I check myself for holes And I’m crawling over glass, I realize. Hey Eliza, I’ll love you till I’m bones But I can’t stick around here anymore any minute now they’ll come crashing down our door So grab what you need we’ve got to go. I will find you a diamond in Mexico.

Undone 05:11
I’m a chemical It is natural No need to be alarmed I’m re-actable a troubled soul I Smile to keep you fooled you know But beneath the table is a soul From the top you’ll never know Think of all the damage that I’ve done That I’ll never hear of But every seed comes from the dark Tonight, I don’t need no one Let me be undone I bit my lip Until it bled red And poured upon the floor So when I slip and crack my head at least it’s then I know just what I’m I dying for You know you do it too. Beneath the table is the toll From the top you’ll now Think of all the damage that you’ve done That you never hear of But every seed comes from the dark So tonight, I don’t need no one Let me be undone Think of all the damage that we’ve done That we’ll never hear of But every seed comes from the dark now So tonight, I don’t need no one Tonight I don’t need anyone Let me be undone Let me be undone

Good To Me 04:02
Your mothers’ washboard on the kitchen door She took it down and laid you out and raked you over it All her of venom found its way through your walls it’s on your tongue it’s in your eyes And it’s exploding there But Darlin’ how come you’re so good to me? When I know it don’t come easily How come you’re so good to me The jack of hearts is all up in your hair He’s got a smile that goes a mile & yours is in there I got a chute just like a tattered flag & I’m going down I know you’ll catch me when you’ve landed. But Darlin how come you’re so good to me? When I know it don’t come easily How come you’re so good to me You caught me crawling across the finish line. The crowds are gone, the sun has carried off the victor You stand composed just like a rusted sign With bullet holes, faded words and slightly leaning And Darlin how come you’re so good to me?

Ya, you’re a monster Don’t try to convince me otherwise And ya, you’re an angel But one of you will not survive And what’s the matter now? Did you not get what you wanted Bipolar baby Do you even notice me here I’m your coyote Chewed my arm off to be here And what’s the matter now? Did you not get what you wanted You’re not the only one who’s lonely With bows in your hair and a pony ride This day comes around only Once a year so lets do it right You’re not he only one who’s lonely With all of your pieces not fitting tight But this day comes around only To blow out some candles so lets do it right A shame it takes some many tears to empty half your cup and when you’re talking to yourself You control the conversation Bi polar baby Wait till you hear what I made you.
9.
You paint your body red But you’ll always be the shadow that you’re hiding in And all the things you’ve said You never add them up Before you pay for it Beside you now, but not for long Do you know that your Yesterday’s Gone So why do you hang on When it’s over And when we could be stars Why do you hang on When it is over. I know there are waves that you can take The ones you can’t just wash over anyway All the ones that break before they reach your face You’ll find another way We’re crashing down and pulling out Your demise it gets no rest You use your will to chase the moon all night You lost our audience Without applause They walk away all right. Do you know that your Yesterday’s gone So why do you hang on When it’s over And when we could be stars Why do you hang on When it’s over I want our names in the sky I want our names in the sky

Dear Grace 04:37
Dear Grace, why did you leave me With no luck & hard out of steam I just thought you’d speak to me One more time before I find the world all cold Dear dad, did you hear me Scream out until my lungs bleed I’m so lost inside a dream I just thought you’d have a song To guide me home Dear Ma Did you see me So high, I could hardly breathe And when it falls from under me You maybe the only one who knows I’m gone This hit the ground running kind of life Has got me running fast out of breath To my friend with head made of stone Tell St. Jude I’m waiting. dear love Why did you fool me Am I so blind and easy to please I just want someone beside me But you maybe the only one I know no more

about

Back Flipping Forward (2021 Remaster) but more importantly the first ever pressing of the this album on vinyl. RED OR BLUE?!?!

These songs changed my life. Originally Released in ‘06 by JSM Music and then again by CBS Records in ’07. It was my second album. I thought it was my last. I was too much in dept from years of DIYing. But these songs did their own thing when they reached ears and started my career.
After CBS Records shut down, I fought for a few years to get my masters back and because of that effort I’m now able to make this commemorative - first ever - remastered - limited edition pressing.
